Can Brain Supplements Improve Your Mood?

Research has also shown that low levels of vitamin E may be linked to depression and anxiety. For example, in a recent randomized and controlled study, vitamin E supplements were linked to decreased depression symptoms.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin help reduce stress

Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids which, when ingested, become concentrated in the eyes and brain. These powerful antioxidants reduce oxidative stress and help reduce inflammation in the brain.

Researchers recently discovered that lutein and zeaxanthin may help reduce stress levels and serum cortisol. This study found that the groups who took a daily lutein and zeaxanthin supplement exhibited significantly lower cortisol levels than the placebo group.  

Overall, the supplement was linked to “significantly improved psychological stress, cortisol levels, and measures of emotional and physical health” compared to the placebo group after six months.
